About
School systems across the country are currently seeing an increase in gang activity, and many school administrators are now struggling with confounding questions about gangs.
Are your kids at risk for joining a gang?
Are they already in one? How do I know?
What is the most effective community response?
Students defined as “at-risk” present similar indicators to those students who fall prey to gang membership (Hawkins and Catalano, 1993). Communities must be willing to develop a comprehensive plan that not only focuses on identifying these”at-risk” kids, but also offers tangible solutions.
In order to begin getting our kids back, parents, teachers, and administrators need to be able to identify current and potential gang members and utilize the community organizations that are currently accessible to their schools.
Streams of Hope is dedicated to providing schools with the knowledge they need to understand and combat the dangers of today’s gangs.
